“I consider myself first and foremost a filmmaker, who happens to have an online presence,” said Florent. “I am very active on social media, and under the name Of Two Lands I share my work with an audience of more than 90,000 followers between Instagram and YouTube. “When I am not shooting. I share what I have learnt on my YouTube channel Of Two Lands where I have more than 45,000 subscribers. It is a place where I share my experience as a freelance filmmaker as well as gear-related content and BTS footage from my documentary and travel work. This allows me to also work with brands, especially camera and lens manufacturers. It also allows me to raise funding for my own documentary and passion projects.”

“Do what you like the way you want it because things change too quickly. And don’t rush. It takes time to discover what you like to shoot and what stories you like to tell.”

It was autumn in the Big Apple. Filmmaker Florent Piovesan took a stroll through a busy concrete jungle with his new eye – the full frame cinema camera – to document the bustling city, slowly. From a vibrant park, magnificent skyscraper to a roaring subway, Florent took advantage of Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K’s newest features of a massive full frame sensor with a native resolution of 6048 x 4032, and also the unique open gate 3:2 image ratio.

As a loyal fan of Blackmagic cameras since 2013, the new sensor has changed the way he composes and leverages his film quality to another level. “The image has so much detail and depth! Being able to shoot Open Gate really changed my way of framing a shot, and New York was the perfect place to use that,” said Florent.

Compared to filmmakers who carry gimbals or tripods for shooting travel scenes, Florent preferred to be light and nimble for more immersive and authentic feels. “All shot handheld, in 6K BRAW Open Gate, in 23.98 or 36 fps.”

Speaking to the magic behind his films, Florent humbly shared that composition and color-grading have an immense impact on his pieces. “I want my audience to feel immersed in what they are watching and experience the place the same way I did. I always try to put the emphasis on composition instead of movement and focus on the quiet moments with a touch of minimalism.”
